Sojourns and Sleeplessness

Photos were taken with your standard generic 35mm autofocus photo for this gallery... pictures are listed alphabetically by file name, so that I don't screw up and forget one (smiley face here).  Here we go:

  • Beverage Aisle -- Derrick samples some of the carbonated beverages at a convenience store somewhere near Hermosa...  this picture would have been more interesting, but when you have a camera, the censors are always hounding you...
  • Hall -- A hall in the high school where the tourney was held.  On the left facing away (with the backpack) is Jesse, next to him is Derrick.  Notice all the boxes... for all you non-debaters, those boxes are all full of evidence.
  • Happy Cat Dance -- Uhh... this one happened in class the week after the tourney, I can't really explain it all that well, I'm afraid.  Seated at left is Amanda Wolffe, standing in the middle is Alana, sitting at right is Chere (is that spelled right?).  Also, with the vacant stare in back is Coleman, our debate coach.
  • Homicidal Alana -- Self-explanatory.  The one... applying pressure to the neck is Alana, the victim is probably Mike Malone.  That's Miriam looking on.
  • Hotel Room (1) -- This is an interior shot of our (Jesse's, Derrick's, and myself's) hotel room... On the left are Cody, Meghan, and Even, digging in his backpack is Jesse.
  • Hotel Room (2) -- Same room, about fifteen seconds later;  Jesse about to take a picture.  (We later found out there was no film in his camera...  whoops.)  Also there are Cody, Alana, Meghan, Even, and Mindy over in the corner.
  • Jail -- This picture was taken during some event at school.  This picture has absolutely nothing to do with debate;  I just had too much film left over when I got back from Wyoming, and had to take pictures of something...  The girl in red is named Marie; she's the only one in the frame I can ID.
  • Junk Food Aisle -- This one's tied to the beverage aisle picture, as it was taken in the same c-store.  That's Jesse there in the Discount shirt.  Other than that... it's kind of funny how there are Saltines in the junk food aisle.
  • Lunchroom -- The fine lunchroom of Natrona County High School... after being invaded by a few dozen debaters.
  • McFood -- Our victory feast.  From left to right are Derrick, Jesse, and Dan Larson; munching the salad behind Derrick is Alana.  And for you who were there... heh heh.  The sundae.
  • Meghan Drawing -- Another picture taken during class after the tourney.  Meghan drawing, Alana giving pointers.
  • Miriam Dislikes Flash -- It was kind of dark in the van on the way back...
  • Miriam Lunchroom -- Yep, it's the same lunchroom as the one before... but this time, the debaters are in the frame.
  • Mister Beasley -- My sister's cat.  Where does the name come from?  Not sure.  This is the freak cat that always seems to come up in conversation with me, in case you were wondering...
  • Self Portrait Dismantling -- Strangely enough, self-portraits are a very good way to waste film, and are helpful in boosting  (or violently tearing down) one's ego, also.  I was a little surprised when this one went off... I think I was just trying to figure out why the flash wasn't working.  Seems I figured it out...
  • Self Portrait Groggy -- Another one.
  • Self Portrait Happy -- And another.
  • Sir Papparazzi (sp?) -- This is another picture from the school event mentioned in "Jail"...  the guy in the frame was going around, taking pictures of people.  He took a picture of myself and someone else, and so in response I snapped one of him.
  • Wyoming People -- There's backstory behind this one... since I hadn't learned to do CX debate yet, I had a lot of free rounds at this tournament, so in between rounds, I got to watch other people debate.  Anyhow, just before we went back to the hotel on the first day, Jesse and Derrick (with me and... I think Alana watching) had a round against two girls from Rawlings [prob sic], Wyoming... anyway, after Jesse and Derrick finished thrashed them, we got to know them quite a bit, and the next day, we ate lunch with them... and so came this picture.  After we left, Derrick slipped them his address, and, three months later... we never heard from them again.  End of story...... or is it?  ...well, it probably is.  Oh well.  You win some, you lose some.

Anyway, that's all the pictures I still have.
