I don't know how many people read this space, but I thought those who did might want to know that on the night of Sunday, 4 July, Dan was driving from New Orleans back to Ohio with some friends when he fell asleep at the wheel. He never woke up.
Dan was one of the most interesting and creative people I have ever met. His curiosity took him to many places, and he made friends everywhere he went. He will be missed dearly. Memorial services have been held in Oregon and South Dakota, and a scholarship is being established at Antioch in his memory.
Added 8 July:
Dear Friends of Daniel,The memorial service will be Saturday Morning at 10:00 AM in Gresham OR with intermint following in Primeville, where Daniel will be laid to rest near his grandfather, Richard Luthy, and uncle, Peter, in sight of the beautiful mountains of Oregon; a place Daniel loved dearly.
As stated in the message, a scholarship is being established, and any memorial funds are asked to be directed to Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio. These can be sent to the attention of Cheryl Keen, Dean of Students. While it is with a deeply saddened heart that we write this, we know that Daniel is surrounded by and embraced by so many loving family and friends who hold him close and cherish him.
The family appreciates your prayers and kind thoughts, and if a thought of Dan brings a smile to your face, then we know he put it there.
In loving memory of our son and brother,
Please feel free to share your memories or wishes in the space below (marked comments) and read what others have written. I'll keep updating this space into the future; thank you for visiting.
